How to Check if a Disk Uses GPT or MBR / BIOS or UEFI

You have bought hard disk and you have no idea what's different between HDD and SSD,  what is  Legacy BIOS and UEFI ? what's different between GPT and MBR in which partition style you need for windows? is GPT suitable for Windows 10 and Windows 11? or all are same,
most worse  is when you try to install windows 10 or  windows 11 it shows legacy mode, UEFI mode, GPT, MBR disk type error and you don't know what is legacyUEFI, GPT or MBR

Here we will know the definition of each term and what are differences between them so you will have a clear picture of what you want.

What is  Legacy BIOS and UEFI?

UEFI stands for Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, UEFI is the advanced version of legacy mode. UEFI Bios Utility can be operated with Mouse, graphic animations and full control for Boosting RAM, VRAM disrupts the boot sequence and the structure of hard disks...

UEFI is the most secure and interface, it is an intermediate software between the firmware and the operating system, which will provide additional security and faster processing on the computer.

UEFI supports partition style GPT.

Legacy BIOS is the boot process used by BIOS firmware that support the old OS like XP, it is extremely limited. The interface is limited and works only with the keyboard. it runs on OLD computers.

Legacy Bios supports partition style MBR.

Is UEFI better than Legacy BIOS?
Read and decide by yourself:

UEFI vs Legacy performance

UEFI performances:

More features and benefits
Supports up to 128 primary partitions
Support a disk beyond 2 TB
Boot Speed
Improved security
Support larger disk
Graphical user interface (control with mouse)
Supports partition style GPT

Legacy BIOS performances:

limited number of options.
Supports up to 4 primary partitions.
Doesn’t support a disk beyond 2 TB.

Supports partition style MBR.

How do i know if my Bios is UEFI or LEGACY
UEFI or Legacy how to know, there are many ways to know your Bios mode
1st:
You can know by just entering to your Bios mode, Start your computer  click F2 or Delete go to BOOT and you will see.
2nd: Click Windows+R and type msinfo32

Click enter and for BIOS mode.

Can I change Legacy to UEFI?

A partition is a virtual division of a hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD). Each partition can vary in size and typically serves a different function.

SSD vs HDD, What is different between SSD and HDD?

Should my SSD be MBR or GPT?

All Windows operating systems can be installed on MBR disks yet some of them cannot be installed on GPT disk.

Is Windows 10 GPT or MBR?

Depends on your computer's firmware. Only an MBR disk can be used to install Windows 10 if your computer has BIOS firmware. You can only install Windows 10 on a GPT drive if your computer's firmware is UEFI-based.
